The Job Retention Scheme (Furlough) has been extended

The Job Retention Scheme (Furlough) has been extended to the end of October.  However, from the 1st August 2020 there will be some changes which are being introduced to get employees back to work and to boost the economy.

The fine details of the changes are yet to be announced but what we do know is that furloughed workers will be able to return to work part-time and employers will be asked to pay a percentage towards the salaries of their furloughed staff.  The employer payments will substitute the contribution the government is currently making but it is the aim to ensure that staff continue to receive 80% of their salary (up to £2,500 per month) as now.

Further details on the changes from 1st August 2020 are expected by the end of May and will be but here in a further blog.
